An outdoor activity that allows children to explore nature, enjoy fresh air, and engage in physical exercise. It involves walking on trails in natural environments such as forests, mountains, and parks. Hiking can be a fun and educational experience for children, providing them with the opportunity to discover the beauty of the natural world and develop a love for the outdoors. We offer hiking activities to our children at different hiking routes inside the Kathmandu valley, such as Jamacho Gumba Trail, Nagi Gumba Trail, Sundarijal Trail, etc. We observe and value that hiking holds great significance for the overall development and well-being of children.
Hiking has been an excellent form of exercise that helps our children build strength, endurance, and fitness. It promotes healthy growth and development by encouraging physical activity. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety in children. Hiking provides a calming and peaceful environment that improves their mental well-being and boosts their mood. Children are encouraged to observe and learn about their surroundings. It stimulates curiosity and enhances their knowledge of plants, animals, and ecosystems. This hands-on learning experience improves their cognitive skills and critical thinking. Hiking allows children to interact with friends and other hikers. It helps them develop teamwork, communication, and cooperation skills as they navigate trails and share experiences. A sense of appreciation and respect for nature seems to be fostered. Children learn about the importance of conservation and environmental stewardship, which inspires them to protect and care for the natural world. Overcoming challenges on the trail, such as steep climbs or rough terrain, boosts children’s confidence and sense of accomplishment. Hiking also encourages independence as children learn to navigate and make decisions in the outdoors.
